A Winter Affair
A winter themed wedding can be an absolutley stunning affair. When I think winter I don't just think of Christmas trees and plum pudding (although I do love BOTH of those things!) I think of things like hot chocolate, pine cones, candles, and spray painting things gold(!) I recently collaborated with The Wild Blackberry, Divine Day Photography and The Flower Pocket to style a woodland inspiration shoot. Take a look at some ideas for your winter wedding below.
Check out this beautiful rustic wedding cake by The Wild Blackberry. I love this rustic style of icing which I think fits perfectly with the natural elements on the cake and this wintery woodland backdrop. This cake and the tree slice, sitting on my beautiful vintage gold table (see, I told you I liked spraying things gold!) is sheer perfection!
When styling your table I think it's always fab to add some quirky elements that people haven't seen before. It is these small details that create a lasting impression in people's minds. Take our table from the shoot for example. It's adorned with all sorts of quirky elements from the gold pineapple to the matryoshka doll. Little vintage bottles with single stems and some vintage jam jars filled with flowers just make this table an absolute winner.
The place setting is a key element on your table. When your guests sit down it's a lovely feeling when something small you've placed at their seat brings a smile to their face. We used stems of pine and dusty miller here. All tied togther with a little piece of red string, very wintery indeed!
Winter flowers are such a delight! I've seen so many beautiful bouqets recently on the wedding blogs (see my previous blog for some ideas for your bouquet!) For our shoot we went with silver-leaf plants such as dusty miller, thistle and brunia berries which just scream winter. And of course the wonderful anemone. Look how the photograph below captures that wonderful, deep blue on the inside of the anemone flower - just glorious!
